Cafepress FAIL

Don’t you just love the new Web 2.0 business model?

1. Utilize technology to partner with individual content providers from all over the world.

2. Become successful through this partnership.

3. Screw your partners when you become successful.

The blatant money grab is simply astonishing.  They say they are making improvements for the consumer, but anyone with half a brain can see that they are both raising the price to the consumer AND keeping all of the profit for themselves.  If they truly wanted to do something for the consumer they would LOWER their base prices to match the prices associated with silk-screened shirts and then ask the shopkeepers to share in lowering their prices as well.  But no, their base prices are not going down one penny — they are just blatantly grabbing all the profit from the shopkeepers and designers.

Well, I hope the shopkeepers and designers realize that Cafepress has no business if they have nothing to sell.  I already switched my yearly shop renewal to become month-to-month just to let Cafepress know that I will be leaving for good shortly.  I hope you do the same.

See you soon on Zazzle!

I couldn’t agree more. Interestingly I would think that the best sellers would be the most motivated artists/designers to leave the company first. It’s a bad business model anyway you look at it.

Absolutely agreeing with you. Cafepress have ruined me. Oh well, now to spent the next few months on one of the better t-shirt printing companies that have some morals.

I was just banned from Cafepress for encouraging people to speak up!

They have ruined me also. I am homeless and all my living income came from my Cafepress shops. Well, I have closed my shops and now have shops on other PODs.
I will certainly not recomend them to anyone again.
